Day 9: Aberdeen

Another rainy day in Aberdeen. It seems that Monday may have been the one day of summer, after all.

Our first stop of the day was to be at Duthie Park but on the way we made a side trip to "The Bread Guy Bakery", tucked away on a side street in Torrey. Their products looked delicious so we bought a box full to share with Haddie later. Sorry, no photo, but I'll be giving them a good review on Google.

A city park seems an unpromising place to be in the rain but Duthie Park boasts the David Welch Winter Gardens, a series of connected greenhouses full of plants from around the world and loud groups of school children. Some of the plants we even recognised as existing in our own garden at home. Linda had a lot of fun taking closeup photos of various plants, as you can see from the title image of this blog post.

We then went on to visit Haddie. At 95 years of age he is now very hard of hearing and has various other ailments but is still extremely sharp mentally and just as stubborn as ever.

At one point Haddie got tired of all the conversation and took me along to the "Hobbies Room" for a game of pool or three. I won't reveal the result but I hope I can still play pool as well as him when I am 95.

For dinner we were entertaining again, this time Margaret and George came over. Once again, we enjoyed a pleasant conversation over the meal and into the evening.
